ACMA's Advocacy on Capitol Hill

Posted on: 6/16/2010

In September, the first Advocacy on Capitol Hill event was held and ACMA members from across the country came to Washington, DC to meet with key legislators regarding our association's strategic priorities in healthcare reform legislation – transitional care services, readmissions and comparative effectiveness research. More than 40 meetings were held between ACMA members, U.S. Senators and House Representatives. Many legislators were receptive to ACMA’s message and requested case management input as healthcare reform legislation was finalized.

ACMA has returned to Washington to host this year's Advocacy on Capitol Hill event. Today and tomorrow 13 ACMA members will again meet with key legislators regarding these strategic priorities, building on last year’s policy agenda and working to ensure that critical measures such as transitional care services, readmissions and comparative effectiveness research are clearly defined and developed during the health care reform implementation process.

In order to keep you informed of our efforts while in Washington, we will post updates as ACMA members meet with Congressional representatives on the ACMA Twitter page - www.twitter.com/theacma. If you do not already have a Twitter account, it's easy and takes less than five minutes to create. Simply go to ACMA's Twitter page, click the "Join today" button and enter the required information and your desired username.

We will also post updates on the Legislative Updates section of the ACMA website as meetings occur.

What Do You Think? - We ask for your feedback as we continue to engage Congress - please email any input or suggestions regarding case management's opportunities for involvement in health care legislation and public policy initiatives to Tyler Neese at the ACMA National Office - tneese@acmaweb.org.
