U.S. Health Care Ranks First in Patient-Centered Care, Last in Other Areas

According to a recent report released by the Commonwealth Fund, the U.S. ranks first among seven countries in regards to effective and patient-centered care and access to specialists. However, the U.S. came in last place in respect to cost-related access problems and other measures of health system performance.

The report examined the U.S., Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the United Kingdom in five areas: health care quality, efficiency, access to care, equity and the ability to lead long, healthy lives.
