2025 Case Management Week, A word from our Chapter President

It’s October again, “fall” here in Florida. Case Management (CM) is celebrated the week of October 12th this year.  It’s a time to reflect on what every CM professional does and its impact on those we serve.
RN’s, Social Workers, LMHC’s, and other disciplines are stepping up to assist those in need as a CASE MANAGER.  The Florida Chapter of the ACMA salutes each one of you.   We also must also give a shout out to our support team, the “Case Management Assistants, the unit clerks, the CM department secretaries, and all the others who help us do what we do.

The landscape of healthcare continues to be a challenge.  Changes to Medicare, Medicaid, healthcare insurance, and reimbursement are on the horizon.  It will be our responsibility to be there for both our patients and the healthcare facilities/organizations we serve.  The challenge we have accepted as a CM is difficult.  We strive for a balance between what is best for the patient and what is fiscally possible.  We truly “do more with less.”  Our strength lies in our compassion and caring.

Our role(s) is more important now than ever before. The Florida Chapter is proud to be a part of the support system of education, resources, and networking that supports the Case Managers of the Sunshine State.

On behalf of the entire ACMA Florida Chapter Board of Directors,

Happy Case Management Week 2025!
Patrick O’Boyle, Chapter President

Karen Vanaskie was one of case management's brightest and most dedicated professionals. She was serving as Secretary / Treasurer on the ACMA National Board of Directors at the time of her unexpected passing on June 21, 2024.

At the request of Karen's family, ACMA has set up the Karen Vanaskie Scholarship Fund. Karen was passionate about the need for case management certification. She actively supported her staff in pursuing the Accredited Case Manager (ACM) Certification. To continue her legacy, this scholarship fund will cover the cost of their ACM certification application fee for those to whom it is awarded. We believe this continues Karen's legacy.
