The ACMA Maryland Chapter, established in 2003, represents Nurses, Social Workers, Physician Advisors, Nurse Practitioners, Community Health Workers, Case Management Assistants and other professionals who work in case management and transitions of care and who reside and/or work in Maryland, Delaware, DC or West Virginia.

ACMA National and Maryland Chapter membership allows you to better connect with case management professionals, gain access to resources in Maryland and surrounding states, while still ensuring you have access to the innovative resources and research available through ACMA's nationwide network of 8,000+ case management and transitions of care professionals.

April 2026 Chapter Updates:

  • Registration is open for our Saturday, June 13th In-person conference "Advocacy in Action:  Empowering Case Managers in Dementia, Guardianship, & Mental Health" at Crescent Cities in Riverdale Park, Maryland.  Registration Link
  • Save the date-our Annual MD Chapter conference will take plan Saturday, Aug 29, 2026 at the North Bethesda Marriott in Rockville, MD.  Registration will be opening soon.
  • Our March 20th In-person conference was a success.  Thank you again to The Carnegie Hall at Washingtonian Center, our wonderful exhibitors, presenters, attendees, and our MD chapter board with a special recognition to the event's co-chairs Anne Marie Smouse and Jeannine Cook.

CHAPTER OF EXCELLENCE
The Chapter of Excellence program defines outstanding chapter performance by outlining the standards of practice for optimal chapter operation. Chapters achieve these awards by demonstrating performance in the key areas of chapter operations and attaining specific growth and development benchmarks.

The Maryland Chapter received Chapter of Excellence achievement in the following years:  2024, 2023, 2022, 2019, 2018, 2017, and 2015.  And the chapter was the proud winner of the ACMA National Award for 2019 Highest Attended ACMA State Chapter Conference in the Nation!!!

Karen Vanaskie was one of case management's brightest and most dedicated professionals. She was serving as Secretary / Treasurer on the ACMA National Board of Directors at the time of her unexpected passing on June 21, 2024.

At the request of Karen's family, ACMA has set up the Karen Vanaskie Scholarship Fund. Karen was passionate about the need for case management certification. She actively supported her staff in pursuing the Accredited Case Manager (ACM) Certification. To continue her legacy, this scholarship fund will cover the cost of their ACM certification application fee for those to whom it is awarded. We believe this continues Karen's legacy.
