CE evaluation will be emailed prior to the webinar and must be scanned and returned within 7 days of the course. CE Certificate will be emailed within 7 days of evaluation receipt. Attendance will be monitored and only social workers who attend the webinar; complete and return the evaluation will receive a CE Certificate. No partial credits will be given.

Session Information:
Abstract:
Focus will be on the Medicare discharge appeal procedure, patients’ discharge rights, appeal forms, timeframes, and financial liability. Sample forms, flowchart, and checklist will be provided to aid the case manager in delivery of current forms, accurate completion, and targeted population.

 Learning Objectives: At the end of this presentation the learner will be able to:
1. Recognize patients’ discharge appeal rights
2. Implement a standard Medicare discharge appeal workflow
3. Utilize tools and checklist to simplify the discharge appeal process

Speaker Bio:
Eileen Sullivan MSN RN ACM CCM
Eileen Sullivan is the manager of the Continuum of Care Department at Morristown Medical Center (MMC) in Morristown, NJ. She has worked in the case management industry for over 20 years. Her career spans service in the payer, provider, and community healthcare settings. Her expertise lies in utilization management, discharge planning, hospital resource management, and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining MMC, Ms. Sullivan worked at NYU Langone Medical Center, CarePoint Health System, Horizon BCBS, and HIP Health Plan of NJ. Ms. Sullivan is Board Certified in Case Management and is an Accredited Case Manager. She received her Master of Science in Nursing Health Systems Administration at Seton Hall University where she was the recipient of the Case Management Award. Her undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing is from Rutgers University. Ms. Sullivan is a member of the American Case Management Association (ACMA) and a founding member of the ACMA NJ chapter where she currently serves as chapter secretary.
