Learning Link Rules & Disclaimer

By subscribing and using ACMA's Learning Link, you agree that you have read and will follow the rules and guidelines set for this peer discussion group. You also agree to reserve list discussions for topics best suited to the medium.

As with any community, there are guidelines governing behavior on the discussion list. For instance, violating antitrust regulations, libeling others, selling, and marketing are not permissible. Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important guidelines. ACMA reserves the right to suspend or terminate subscriptions to Learning Link for members who violate these rules.

  • Do not attack or disparage others. The Learning Link Forum is intended to be educational and intellectual in nature and not oriented toward discrediting other individuals or organizations. Discussion is encouraged on Learning Link, but professionalism is expected at all times. The discussions on the list are meant to stimulate conversation not to create contention. Let others have their say, just as you may.
  • Do not post marketing messages for any goods, services or programs, other than ACMA-sponsored programs. Contact people directly with products and services that you believe would help them. Materials suggesting tools or documents sent by members are acceptable so long as (1.) they are related to a conversational thread on Learning Link (2.) the information is not sent unsolicited (3.) the content of the email simply reflects that the attached tool may be helpful with respect to the discussion thread and (4.) no reference to the posting party’s services is given. Otherwise, messages may potentially be construed as marketing a company or service.
  • Full contact information is required on all postings. Full contact information includes: name, title, organization, city and state, email address and phone number. Contact information must include any and all employment affiliations, positions or appointments relative to the practice of case management for which one receives compensation. This adds credibility to your posting, provides readers the full perspective from which your experience and response is derived and allows others to contact you directly if needed for more information. Please note that postings echoing interest in a tool or document after another member has requested the information are prohibited. These “me too” messages clutter other subscribers’ inboxes. Such requests are to be sent directly to the subscriber’s email, not via Learning Link.
  • Use discretion when discussing commercial products or services. Members are encouraged to share their experiences and opinions, but keep in mind that information posted on Learning Link is available for all to see and is subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.
  • Use discretion when discussing patients or providing case examples or scenarios. Again, members are encouraged to share their experiences and opinions, but keep in mind that information posted on Learning Link is publically available to all members of the forum and must comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
  • Use caution if posting material you did not create - it may be copyrighted. If so, you (not ACMA) are responsible to comply with copyright laws which may require written permission before duplication or posting.
  • All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited. Exercise caution when posting materials or comments for which you are not the “author.” Be sure you know the origin of material or comments before posting and have reviewed them to ensure that nothing you are posting could be considered by others to be defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive or illegal.

Please note carefully all items listed in the disclaimer and legal rules below, particularly regarding the copyright ownership of information posted to the list. Please be advised that Learning Link is an open forum, and in litigation which involves you or your employer, the comments you post on Learning Link may become subject to review by persons not related to ACMA.

Remember that ACMA and other Learning Link participants have the right to reproduce postings to this discussion list.

Consequences of Inappropriate Use

Additional infractions will result in removal from Learning Link. ACMA retains the right to determine if Learning Link usage violates policy and can subsequently remove the member's Learning Link subscription.

Complaints

All Learning Link complaints are to be submitted by ACMA members in writing and the submission must specify the objection that violates current policy.

The Ethics Committee reserves the right to request additional information in writing from the complainant and/or other parties.
