Data Storytelling: Empowering Staff Through Data and Education

Publication Date: 12/18/2023

Length: 57 minutes, 38 seconds

Content Level: 1 Foundational/Beginner, General CE

Abstract
Data is a powerful tool, but it can be difficult to tell a story with data that communicates the impact of case manager work. This session will demonstrate how data storytelling can take a typical data report and transform it into actionable intelligence to empower leaders and staff to enact change. To be effective, data storytelling must be paired with the support of education and coaching that ensures that all levels of care management staff, from front line to Vice President, truly understand data. This session provides information and examples to demonstrate the power and applications of data in daily operations and strategic planning.

Learning Objectives
1. Reconstruct raw data into a mechanism to intersect operations, data, visuals and a narrative so your data is an actionable story.
2. Combine data storytelling with a structured plan of education and coaching to implement actionable data-driven change to all levels of your organization.
3. Implement basic education and coaching to support and empower case managers with use of data.

Karen Vanaskie Scholarship Fund

Karen Vanaskie was one of case management's brightest and most dedicated professionals. She was serving as Secretary / Treasurer on the ACMA National Board of Directors at the time of her unexpected passing on June 21, 2024.

At the request of Karen's family, ACMA has set up the Karen Vanaskie Scholarship Fund. Karen was passionate about the need for case management certification. She actively supported her staff in pursuing the Accredited Case Manager (ACM) Certification. To continue her legacy, this scholarship fund will cover the cost of their ACM certification application fee for those to whom it is awarded. We believe this continues Karen's legacy.
